Our Other Activities
Here are pictures of some of
our other activities during the current and past seasons.
Congratulations to Rebecca Nelson Scott,
recipient of the 2008-2009 Marvin & Betty Reuben Scholarship at USM.
The “Marvin Reuben Hub City Award” provides aid to an outstanding
student majoring in broadcasting in the USM School of Mass
Communication and Journalism. It is the largest scholarship they
awarded this year. Rebecca is a member of the VTG Board of
Directors, and has appeared in main stage, Gold in the Hills, and
Fairy Tale Theatre.
We held a ceremony the opening
night of Southern Discomfort to recognize Buddy
Hallberg with the 2008 VTG Lifetime Achievement Award.
Buddy has been acting onstage, here and elsewhere, since
1957 and is admired by generations of audiences and fellow
actors. The
Vicksburg Post had a
nice article on March 16.

Mark Twain returned
to Vicksburg on May 17th and 18th, 2004
Vicksburg native Richard R. Salassi in A Visit with Mark
Twain!
Mark Twain
continues to live in the hearts and minds of generations who first
encountered the famous American author and humorist in grade
school when they read about the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck
Finn. Richard R. Salassi brings him to life again in his one-man
show.

On 23 July 2003,
Lauren Auttonberry arranged for an interview on 23 July at Channel 18, the
Jackson public access cable channel, to discuss our activities such
as Gold in the Hills, main stage, Fairy Tale Theatre, and the
building fund grant.

We held auditions on 25 & 28 April
2003 for
Les Misérables:
School Edition, but we determined that we were unable to cast this
ambitious play. The summer months are busy for many people, and we
were simply unable to recruit the number of students necessary to
put on this demanding show. We wanted to do the show justice, or not
do it at all. Unfortunately, the latter turned out to be the case.
We thank everybody who tried out. We hope to see you at auditions
for one of our future musicals! |
