Setting

Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, "you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you" -- so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his 34th birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd" -- a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence, and less tact. And Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence . . .

About our Cast …

Stephen Spangler -- Willum Cubbert -- Stephen Spangler is an engineer at the Information Technology Laboratory, Waterways Experiment Station. Stephen has appeared in VTG's productions of "12 Angry Men," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Life With Father," and "Gold in the Hills." When he is not in plays, he enjoys spending time with his wife and immersing himself in any and all things related to Star Wars. It is his dream that a casting agent for Lucasfilm will one day see one of his plays and cast him in one of the future installments of the Star Wars saga.

Jaymee Vowell -- Tansy McGinnis -- Jaymee has been involved in theatre more years than she is willing to admit. She lives in Jackson, but graced the Vicksburg stage in 1997 in “Noises Off” and again in 1999 in “Fools.” She appears regularly on your television set, doing everything from relaxing in her hot tub to securing a loan.

Gayle Morton -- Axel Hammond -- Gayle is honored to be making his debut with the Vicksburg Theatre Guild. Some of Gayle's favorite stage roles are Will Masters in "Bus Stop", Teddy in "Arsenic and Old Lace", Linus Larrabee, Sr. in "Sabrina Fair", Lloyd in "Noises Off", all with the Black Rose Theatre in Brandon; Billy in "Some Enchanted Evening", and five roles in "Twain by the Tale", with the Canton Community Players. Gayle has been seen locally in a commercial for Northpark Mall and an award-winning industrial film for the Southern Company. Gayle would like to thank all of those with the VTG for giving him such a warm welcome and he would especially like to thank his lovely wife Georgie for having the patience to allow him to pursue his acting proclivities.

Jeff Buchwald -- Rick Steadman -- Jeff has been doing community theatre for years in Texas, Illinois, and Mississippi. His credits here in Vicksburg include the comedies, "Odd Couple," "Rumors," and "Life With Father," and the dramas "The Man Who Lost the River" and "Twelve Angry Men". When cast as the Nerd, Jeff was overheard to say, "Hey, great! I've been rehearseen' for this part all my life!" Jeff is happy to be on stage once again with his wife Carol.

Neal Wolcott -- Warnock "Ticky" Waldgrave -- Neal has most recently appeared in VTG’s production of “Twelve Angry Men” as Juror 11, and before that in “Fools” as the butcher. He has previously acted and directed in productions at University of California Riverside and California State University. Some memorable performances include his role as Feste in “Twelfth Night” and Grumio in “Taming of the Shrew."

Carol Buchwald -- Clelia Waldgrave -- Carol is happy to be back on the comedic stage after a hiatus. She has appeared in "Odd Couple", "Rumors", and "The Man Who Lost the River". Her favorite role was Belinda in the comedy "Noises Off". She is a teacher in the Vicksburg Warren Central school district. She and her husband have three children: Katy Davis, Erin Buchwald, and Joey Tillman.

Zach Booth -- Thor Waldgrave -- Zach has appeared in several VTG productions, including "Oliver!" and "The Man who Lost the River" as well as "Fairy Tale Theatre" and "Gold in the Hills". When he's not gracing the theatre stage, you can find Zach on the dancing stage, performing in regional dance competitions.
