The Robber Bridegroom is a mythical story of Mississippi in the late 1700’s. Set in the once-thriving town of Rodney along the Natchez Trace, this was a time of fond bragging, brigands, and beautiful belles. Written with incredible wit and wisdom by Mississippi's own Eudora Welty, this play has become a classic throughout the U.S. It is especially pertinent here in Vicksburg since it provides a fascinating glimpse into a fairy-tale version of our local past. The music ranges from beautiful ballads to foot-stomping production numbers, all under the artful direction of Joanne Ryan, a local guitarist with nationally recognized talent. We guarantee that you will leave with a smile on your face! |
