Biography

Georgina Stanfield, a native of England, first performed at the London Palladium. After moving to Vicksburg, she started her Gold in the Hills career in 1972 as “Lizzie” (the housekeeper) and “Mrs. Vanderlop” (a tourist). The role that generations of audiences came to love was “Old Kate” (the eccentric patron of Big Mike's Beer Garden and Dancehall on the Bowery).

Georgina has served as VTG Treasurer and Chairman of Costumes. She has also appeared in many VTG main stage plays, including The Man Who Came to Dinner as a gourmet cook, Cabaret as a Kit Kat girl, and Oliver! as “Old Sally.”

She is accompanied on her return to Vicksburg by her daughter Kim Stanfield Gabriel of Melbourne, Florida. Kim is also a VTG veteran, having first performing as a dwarf in Snow White in 1971, and as “Louisa” in The Sound of Music in 1972. Kim has performed in Gold in the Hills as “Barbara” and as a Can-Can Cutie, and was a 1977 Mississippi Sweetheart and two-time Miss Vicksburg competitor.
