This witty, sophisticated musical interweaves several Grimm’s fairy tales, then adds to them with an examination of the consequences that follow "happily ever after." Jack's murder of the giant (of beanstalk fame) provokes the wrath of the giant's wife, Cinderella's prince is a hopeless philanderer, the witch is not wicked—just overprotective, and a slightly-psychotic Little Red Riding Hood proudly wears a grey wolf skin. Into the Woods is a complex and multilayered play with something for all ages.
