We were proud to bring to our stage
this touching comedy about the frailties and idiosyncrasies of the
human condition. Its location in a manufactured home oasis (and
monkey emporium) in central Florida is a surely a metaphor for the
			global village. Sure...
OK people, here's the deal: It's
written by Mark Landon Smith (Faith County, Evening of Culture). It's directed by Jim Miller. It's
			funny.
Need to hear more? Its cast includes
Dixie and Vesta, hard hittin' radio investigative reporters out to
make your business theirs. There's Mary Eunice, Sunday-School
Director on a mission (who has a dark secret), Missy, rovin'
reporter on a pilgrimage (who looks fat in stripes), Harleen,
gambler with a surprise up her sleeve (and it ain't cards), Alveeta,
star-maker (if she can keep 'em out of prison), Pauleen, stage
momma (with large plans for her daughter, or is it plans for...?), Mayola,
beauty pageant contestant (whose favorite high school class is
lunch), Madge, who doesn't know the meanin' of anonymous (and ain't
about to look it up), and Imogene, belly-dancin' instructor and
decorative lawn flamingo choreographer (who has a dark secret).
More? ...OK, the main scene is a
drive-by nativity scene in tribute to "the Kings," Jesus and Elvis,
celebrated on the anniversary of the the King of Rock and Roll's
departure to that last great concert in the sky in August 1977. So,
that makes it a tribute to Jesus' birth and Elvis' death, and it's
in August! Are you following this? Christian Christmas and Rock and
Roll Easter! It didn't make sense to me either, but it works!
Did I mention it's written by Mark
Landon Smith and directed by Jim Miller?
			Here's the "official" description:
			Radio hostesses and society doyennes
Vesta Poteet and Dixie Mandrell bring to you the comings and goings
of the activities in and around The Luna Del Mar Manufactured Home
Oasis and Monkey Emporium — where very few of the monkeys are
contagious. And what a jumpin' place this trailer park is. There's a
visit to Graceland from rovin' reporter Missy Goode (and her
unfortunate arrest by the security guards); there's the upcomin'
Miss Manatee contest, if forced contestant Mayola Felts can stop
eaten' every sweet thing she can get her hands on; there's The Heart
of Dixie advice for the lovelorn and addicted — a subscription to
the Gone with the Wind collectors series of plates with Scarlette
O'Hara looking like Ernest Borgnine in drag is a dramatic
disappointment. The colossal celebration at Luna Del Mar, penicillin
capital of central Florida, is Jesus and Elvis; A Tribute to the
Kings, a little nativity with some rock n' roll. So it's not the
holidays, but in honor of Elvis, a drive-by nativity is planned with
headlights to be beamed on the annual tableau — low headlights,
PLEASE! If you think that this kings' tribute runs smoothly, you'll
also believe that teased hair is a thing of the past.
			Auditions for Radio TBS (Trailer
Park Broadcasting Scandals) were held on February 17 and 18. Production dates are May 4-6 & 11-13. The
cast consisted of nine actresses capable of playing "age 30-&-up"
women, and one actress capable of playing an "age
teens-to-early-20's" woman. This was a hilarious comedy with lots of fun to be had by
folks on both sides of the stage!!
