The 71st season of Gold in the Hills has ended, but the curtain never closes!
The 72nd season will start in March 2007.

We are 70 years old. On March 28, 1936, Gold in the Hills opened on an Army Corps of Engineers barge converted to look like a riverboat. Come see what has kept audiences entertained all these years.

The show will go on! is the time honored rallying cry of the theater, and it is now our slogan. The fire at the theatre has, needless to say, greatly complicated what is already a difficult chore. Yes, the show DID go on.

The curtain rose on Gold in the Hills at the Vicksburg High School (Confederate Avenue entrance) Friday, July 7 at 7:30 pm. On schedule, with a different location. Fun for the whole family. Sing the old songs! Cheer the hero! Boo the villain! (Sorry, no peanuts at our temporary location...) Presented yearly since 1936, Gold features a relentless hero, a winsome heroine, a ruthless villain, beautiful can-can dancers, and the wilder side of city life in the infamous New York Bowery.

Georgina Stanfield held her farewell performance as “Old Kate” on July 15th at Vicksburg High School after 34 years on Vicksburg Theatre Guild stages at the Sprague, the Bowmar Avenue Playhouse, and the Parkside Playhouse, and now Vicksburg High School. We miss her already. Thanks to The Vicksburg Post for a nice article about Georgina.

We held two special performances of Gold in the Hills on October 8 2005: a free matinee show for Hurricane Katrina and Rita evacuees in our community, and an evening show to raise funds for The United Way of West Central Mississippi. We also collected relief supplies at all performances. Thanks to all who attended and helped out.

We are now 70 years old and in our 71st season. Gold in the Hills, the Guinness Book of World Records' longest running melodrama, is having another exciting season in March and July 2006, with performances Friday and Saturday nights starting at 7:30 pm. We offer open seating, no reservations required, and always plenty of seats. Click here for information about ticket prices.

Become a part of history when you witness the 71st season of the Guinness Book of World Records' longest running melodrama!
... who stole John Dalton's gold locket?
... what did Murgatroyd discover in the hills?
... is John Dalton really penniless?
... where DID Lizzie leave her fascinator?

Fun for the whole family. Sing the old songs! Cheer the hero! Boo the villain! (Sorry, no peanuts at our temporary location...) Presented yearly since 1936, it features a relentless hero, a winsome heroine, a ruthless villain, beautiful can-can dancers, and the wilder side of city life in the infamous New York Bowery. We held a ceremony after the 15 July 2006 performance of Gold in the Hills to recognize Georgina Stanfield with the 2006 VTG Lifetime Achievement Award. Georgina has been acting onstage in Vicksburg since 1972 and first performed at the London Palladium. The Vicksburg Post had a nice article on July 17, 2006.
