Neil Simon’s
God’s Favorite

directed by Garrett Wallace

Neil Simon's God's Favorite has been cancelled because the fire damage repairs will not be complete.

Auditions: Monday and Tuesday, June 5-6 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Shows:  September 22-24, 29, 30 & October 1, 2006

Transferring the setting of the Book of Job to the Long Island mansion of a super-successful businessman, his wife, a prodigal son, and a pair of kookie twins, Neil Simon has succeeded in creating a hugely funny play while maintaining the integrity of the lesson. One night a messenger from God enters his life. Our modern Job won't renounce God, so a fire is sent to wipe him out, factory and home. Everything becomes a test of his faith, including his family. His wife asks him how he can love a God who makes him suffer and he says his prodigal son makes him suffer and he loves him. He believes he's been chosen to show how much a man can love God. He gets an itch, then neuralgia, then tennis elbow, then… well, worse. "Awesomely funny.... The work of a man of vision. It'll make you laugh out loud." N.Y. Daily News. "His jokes have a kind of hilarious deadpan ecstasy and, even better, are taken from life." N.Y. Times.

Director Garrett Wallace held open auditions June 5-6. The cast consists of five men and three women, able to portray:
Joe Benjamin (50-60ish)
Rose Benjamin (younger than Joe, but not a lot)
Ben & Sara Benjamin (early-to-mid 20's, twins with an IQ of 160
combined)
David Benjamin (30ish or so)
Sidney Lipton (40's or older)
Mady & Morris (middle-aged)
